What I like about my work

Every day is different. I really enjoy working with my clients and other professionals. The deals I work on are exciting and challenging. I love being able to see the results of my work. Property is a positive area of law - it’s about helping clients to achieve things.

What I’ve done in the past

I started out working in Anderson Lloyd’s Queenstown office. I left after 2 ½ years to teach English in Japan and then moved to London. I worked for the Department of Trade & Industry in an insolvency team dealing with VAT fraud.

I returned to New Zealand in 2003 and worked for a large commercial firm in Wellington. In 2004 I decided to move back to the South Island. I’d really enjoyed my time working for Anderson Lloyd in Queenstown and knew the firm had interesting and challenging work and good resources so I applied for a role in the Christchurch office.

My approach to working with my clients

I’m practical and pragmatic. I focus on my client’s end goal. It’s the commercial outcome that my clients want. I look for ways to make sure things happen.

What I enjoy at work

I really like the people I work with and the quality of the work. Even though the firm is large it still has a friendly, open culture.

What I enjoy outside of work

I recently gave birth to my daughter so am enjoying spending time with her. I like reading, running, competing in mini-triathlons, and walking my Black Labrador.

I am also a volunteer at the Christchurch Women’s Refuge where I help on the crisis line.

What I enjoy about living in the South Island

It’s just so beautiful. I love the Southern Alps and Central Otago is one of my favourite places. My husband and I try to get down there as often as we can.
