New Zealand's Largest Artificial Recreation Lake to Double in Size
Mar 2010Lake Hood, which opened in 2002, is used for a range of water-based recreational activities including rowing, sailing, water-skiing, jet skiing and boating. The Ashburton Aquatic Park Charitable Trust announced expansion plans in September 2007.
Lake Hood will increase to about 180 hectares, with the recreational area surrounding the lake expanding to 620 hectares and the residential area increasing to 500 units. The development also incorporates the heritage values of the adjoining Riversdale Homestead which will form part of the extension.
Jen Crawford and Olivia Burge of Anderson Lloyd's Resource Management team acted on the consenting process. Mike Kerr, a partner in the Commercial team, dealt with commercial issues that arose during the process.
