Green light for stadium zone and harbour arterial realignment

Feb 2009

The Plan Change also extends the existing Campus Zone, enabling the University of Otago to expand onto the site adjoining the Stadium Zone.  This will provide opportunities for greater interface and interaction between the Stadium and combined campus area.

Approval has also been given to a proposed Harbour Arterial Road realignment.  The realignment is intended to create a dedicated arterial road adjacent to the existing railway corridor. This arterial will introduce traffic management benefits, including improved traffic flows and pedestrian safety through Dunedin to Port Chalmers and in the area of the Stadium Zone.

Anderson Lloyd resource management partners Lauren Semple and Michael Garbett led the teams that assisted the Dunedin City Council to put the planning framework in place.  "We are proud to be associated with this vital planning process.  These planning instruments have been carefully crafted.  They create an opportunity to establish a vibrant recreational, sporting and education hub in Otago. That's an exciting prospect!"
