Anderson Lloyd in the Community
The firm recognises its obligation to assist solicitors in fulfilling this responsibility. Accordingly, the firm encourages and expects its solicitors to engage in pro bono activities on behalf of persons or groups of limited means and to improve access to justice. This is a firm-wide commitment. If appropriate the firm expects each partner, associate, solicitor, and support staff member to help fulfil this responsibility.
Pro bono legal services are those which involve the exercise of professional legal skills and are provided on a free or substantially reduced fee basis.
The firm’s criteria for pro bono assistance are targeted at:
• People who can demonstrate a need for legal assistance but cannot afford the full cost of a solicitor's services at the market rate without financial hardship
• Non-profit organisations which work on behalf of members of the community who are disadvantaged or marginalised, or which work for the public good
• Public interest matters, being matters of broad community concern, which might not otherwise be pursued
• The involvement of the law in a manner which benefits marginalised or disadvantaged individuals or groups
